Summary: | In this paper, a pattern search algorithm is developed to design an optimum low sidelobe level phased array antenna. The output of the optimization process is a phase matrix, representing the phase of each array element. The resulted pattern shows a good improvement in sidelobe level (-17.87 dB) and highly verifies the applicability of PSAs in array optimization. A brief review of phased array antennas and pattern search algorithms will be presented next, following with the application of PSAs in phased array antennas. Optimization results are finally presented |
