Nearly quantum-limited noise performance of passively mode-locked 10-GHz Er:Yb:glass lasers

The repetition phase noise and carrier phase noise of a passively mode-locked Er:Yb:Glass laser has been investigated. A nearly quantum-limited noise performance was found at high Fourier frequencies where technical noise contributions are negligible.
