Summary: | A comprehensive program for the comparison of computed values of the magnetic fields within electric machines with the actual fields is being developed. The experimental equipment, a fully instrumented synchronous motor, is described together with measurements of the open-circuit radial component of the airgap field. Comparison of the latter with computed values indicates that the predicted values are accurate up to about twice the rated excitation. |
