Description
Summary:The construction of an indoor 40 MW, 34.5 kV to 4 kV electric substation to replace a 30 MW outdoor substation allowed for the installation of a solid-state metering, monitoring, and control system in an administrative/discovery research campus. The planning and design issues that led to the installation of this system are described. A thorough evaluation of the system functions and their benefits is presented. The considerations that should be made when applying such a system to an industrial power distribution system are highlighted.< >
