Summary: | An engineered single-pellet injector prototype, using a small two-stage light gas gun as propeller, has been designed, constructed, and tested, keeping in mind the requirements of the Frascati Tokamak Upgrade. A detailed description of this device, which is capable of reliably accelerating integer pellets with a nominal content of 2*10/sup 20/ D atoms at speeds up to 3.3 km/s, is given. A multishot version, equipped with eight barrels and eight miniaturized two-stage guns, has been designed and is also described.< > |
