Summary: | The integrated information systems approach described involves five building blocks: needs analysis, intelligent tutoring, hypermedia documentation, authoring tools, and intelligent job aiding. Although the development process is not seen as strictly linear, the first component of an integrated information system is an intelligent tutoring system (ITS). An example of an ITS for airway facility (AF) maintenance technicians is described. The plan is to carry out the remainder of the integrated information systems approach in order to develop a complete integrated information system for AF maintenance technicians. The author describes the prototype in terms of the four generic ITS components: the instructional environment, the expert model, the student model, and the instructional model.< > |
