Description
Summary:In this paper two knowledge based simulation and scheduling systems are introduced. The first one is a hybrid system as a 'traditional' simulation/animation systems (SIMAN/Cinema) is used together with expert systems realized in G2, as advisors. In the other one SIMAN/Cinema is substituted by G2, so not only the advisory systems, but the simulation and animation are implemented in G2. The G2 real-time expert system shell is used, as the remote goal of this research is real-time FMS control. Both systems have some evaluation, scheduling and quality control power as well, according to the implemented advisory systems which communicate with the simulation package. The paper gives details on an example where the activities of different cells of a CIM pilot plant are simulated and scheduled.< >
