Description
Summary:Bulk elastic, piezoelectric and dielectric constants of four lead zirconate titanate piezoceramics, Pz24, Pz26, Pz27 and Pz28, and a modified lead titanate, Pz34, are measured and used to theoretically compute the effective permittivity curve of each material from which the SAW properties are deduced. In parallel, experimental measurements of the SAW properties are carried out by using a curve fitting algorithm on the real and imaginary parts of the electrical input impedance of an unapodised single electrode SAW transducer. The SAW propagation losses are also measured using a SAW delay line. A free surface wave velocity varying from 2100 m/s to 2500 m/s and a surface wave coupling coefficient k s 2 between 1.5% and 4% are found. Both determination methods of SAW properties are discussed in terms of sensitivity and the potential of piezoceramics for SAW applications is examined
