Summary: | The behaviour of a rock anchor cluster under shear and moment loads was investigated by full-scale field tests. These tests showed a complex failure mechanism in rock which varied with the combination of loading. Using simplifying assumptions a theory is proposed to predict the ultimate resistance of the anchor group against rock failure. A simplified procedure is outlined for designing the rock anchored footings for steel pole type transmission structures. |
