Description
Summary:Maroon model introduced in (Shivakumaraiah, 2006) describes the need to equip engineers with skills to deal with people from diverse backgrounds due to increasing number of international engineering students in US universities and globalization of industry. This paper present an analysis of the impact of Maroon model and increasing number of international engineering students on engineering education in US. The paper illustrates how Maroon model may be used to incorporate qualities identified by "the engineer of 2020" report as required to be a global engineer. The preliminary results of practicing Maroon model are described at the end of the paper. The results showing increased interaction between domestic and international students suggests a new dimension that can be added to the engineering curricula to increase awareness of diversity among engineering students and improved student life of international engineering students. The outcomes of MSU activities are described at the end of paper
