Summary:Magnetic nanoparticles would be one of the efficient tools for the improvement of antibody-antigen reaction and the enhancement of detection signal for immunofluorescence assay (IFA). This paper focuses on the investigation of the immuno functionality of antibodies immobilized on the surface of iron oxide nanoparticles. Fe 3 O 4 superparamagnetic nanoparticles were successfully produced and conjugated with anti-rabbit IgG which had been modified with FITC fluorescence. The surface coating technique had been used to modify COOH functional group on the surface of magnetic nanoparticles. The anti-rabbit IgG could be conjugated with the magnetic nanoparticles by activating the functional group on the surface. Successful conjugation of antibodies with iron oxide nanoparticles was verified by monitoring the movement of antibody with fluorescence controlled by an external magnetic field. The functionality of the antibodies on nanoparticles were also tested through IFA and showed a similar binding signal to that on bare antibodies
