Summary: | In this article, radio relay systems for synchronous digital hierarchy (SDH)-based networks with path type synchronous transfer module of order 0 (STM-0) with p + q switching configuration are considered. Byte interleaved parity (BIP) codes are used for error monitoring. Multipath phenomena causes fading and the blocks are received in errors because of this fading and the severely errored second (SES) may occur because of these errored blocks. Here, the maximum number of the working channel with different number of protection channels that can meet the objectives in Recommendation ITU-R F.1668 for different values of the hop length is calculated. |
