Summary: | Opportunistic round robin (ORR) scheduling for the downlink of wireless channels has been introduced as a means to bound the users' inter-access time and at the same time exploit the variations in the channel. Unfortunately in the case of slowly fading channels there is not enough variation in the channel over small time intervals to exploit the multiuser diversity. In this paper we extend the ORR algorithm to trade off inter-access time with multiuser diversity gain. The proposed algorithm also allows an arbitrary resource allocation between the users. |
