Absolute Determination of the Volt Using a Liquid Electrometer

An absolute liquid electrometer for high-accuracy determination of the volt has been developed and a number of determinations made. Provisional results, still subject to possible small systematic corrections, are encouraging and indicate a substantial error in the BIPM recommended unit of voltage.
