Description
Summary:In this paper, the development of a new type of horn antenna will be presented. The main advantage of this antenna is its equal beamwidth in electric (E) and magnetic (H) radiation planes. This feature is very important when used as a feed for large reflector antennas. An equal E and H plane symmetry is also achieved when using corrugated horns or helices; however, helix antennas are usually circularly polarized. The proposed antenna is much easier in construction and much lighter in weight than the corrugated horn antenna which needs numerous quarter wave stubs in order to operate properly.
