Summary: | A narrow beam low side lobe level monopulse antenna for the application of tracking radars is designed using pattern search (PS) algorithm. Using pattern search as an effective method for high number of variable problems in a 16 X 16 planar monopulse antenna with equal amplitude isotropic elements resulted in a low side lobe level (SLL) of -18.7 dB for sum and -10.9 dB for difference, a sum half power beamwidth (HPBW) of 3.8 and 3.5 degree in E and H plane and a difference HPBW of 1.1 and 1.5 degree, only by changing phases of 29 elements, regarding the zero-phase array. This will result in a simple and compact structure with low cost implementation process. |
