Description
Summary:A new hybrid gamma detector system combining an assisted scintillation in a high pressure xenon gas medium and two UV photosensors based on microstructures operating face to face, having the xenon medium sandwiched in between, is under investigation for imaging purposes. Recent developments on gas avalanche detectors based on microstructures operating at high pressure allow fair detection efficiency for hard X- and gamma-rays. Results for detector amplitude for different voltages across the MHSP and xenon pressure and position amplitude response as a function of gamma photons vertical interaction position when operating with the two face to face photosensors, are presented..
