Summary: | The aim of this paper is to present a simple simulation technique based in Laplace transform, which allows the analysis of both transient and steady state response of switch mode power supplies (SMPS). Further, an experimental LCR meter is also presented in order to evaluate the capacitor equivalent circuit parameters at the converter operating frequency. Both techniques can be used at the design stage of SMPS, in order to improve the quality of the final prototype, since the effects of these parasitic elements present in electrolytic capacitors can be foreseen. Simulation, experimental and theoretical results are then presented in order to prove the applicability of the present simulation tool. |
