Magneto-Optical Resonance in Counterpropagating Waves

Electromagnetically-induced absorption resonances in Hanle-configuration are experimentally and theoretically studied in the case of counterpropagating waves. The presence of a backward wave provides a significant increase of the amplitude. The results may be useful for magnetometry.
