Summary: | Managing and browsing large photo collections is difficult. With digital cameras taking thousands of pictures is easy, but after few months finding the concrete one becomes challenging. As a remedy we are trying to organize photos in albums, but when the number of albums also grows we are looking for other ways. The result of our work is the application called SemanticPhoto that improves the capabilities of available photo galleries with respect to search, reasoning, querying and data sharing. Moreover, with the introduction of semantic Web technologies the information about photos can be easily exchanged between different applications, not necessarily related to photo galleries. The article describes subsequent stages while developing the semantic-application, focusing on ontology creation and the system architecture construction. The presented system architecture is reusable and can be used as a basis while creating other semantic-aware applications. |
