Summary: | A location-aware routing protocol called GRID for mobile ad hoc networks has been recently proposed. This protocol suffers from some weaknesses related to: (1) relatively high path establishment and path maintenance overheads, (2) imbalance and asymmetry as some nodes have to play special gateway roles with increased processing and communication overheads, and (3) unrealistic 2D view of the mobile ad hoc geographical region. We propose a 3D grid location aware routing protocol for mobile ad hoc networks that addresses these weaknesses. The paper presents mathematical analysis of the end-to-end packet delay and of the packet delivery ratio. |
