Simple and accurate transverse equivalent network to model radiation from hybrid leaky-wave antennas with control of the polarization

Description
Summary:A novel technique to control the polarization in stub-loaded leaky-wave antennas was first proposed in [1], and lately studied in more detail in [2]. The cross section of the antenna, based on hybrid waveguide-planar technology [3], is shown in Fig.1-a. In [1,2], it was shown how this technology allows to obtain horizontal, vertical, elliptical and circular polarizations. However, the designs presented in [1,2] were performed using three dimensional electromagnetic simulations obtained from commercial finite element solver (HFSS). These designs were also validated with experiments in [2]. In this paper we present a novel transverse equivalent network (TEN) to analyze in a more efficient way the behavior of the proposed leaky-wave antenna (LWA).
