Summary: | This paper presents a road occupancy rate based fuzzy logic for the control of transit vehicle at freeway ramp. The fuzzy logic, which has been applied broadly in urban intersection signal control, is used for transit vehicle control at Freeway Ramp in this paper. Different from the traditional measure which adjusts signal cycle by lengthening or shortening the green-time, we propose a red-time regulation method to change the cycle time according the waving of road occupancy rate. The variables used to formulate this method is treated as fuzzification, at the same time the corresponding fuzzy set and fuzzy control rules are built, and we use the maximum membership measure to de-fuzzy. We test the efficiency of this fuzzy controller by comparing its resultant queuing delay with that of traditional fixed time control and actuated control with simulation then we draw the conclusion that this fuzzy logic is more efficient than the other type of control strategies. |
