Summary: | Lossy compression of images corrupted by Poisson noise is considered. Peculiarities on noisy images are discussed. An automatic approach in selection of a parameter that controls compression ratio (CR) is proposed. It is demonstrated how to reach optimal operation point (OOP), i.e., such CR that provides minimal peak signal-to noise ratio (PSNR) calculated between compressed and noise free images without having an actual noise-free image. A provided CR is of about 6...16 and it depends upon image complexity. |
