Summary: | The power transmission rate assignment problem is at the core burst admission and burst scheduling for 3G CDMA networks. Finding a feasible bit rate assignment relies on solving a linear system of equations to find the required downlink power allocations. This conventional scheme requires O(n 3 ) operations and is time consuming for large number of bursts. In this study, an alternative method of solving the bit rate assignment problem is presented where only O(n) operations are required. The new analytic model facilitates the search for a particulate set of bit rate assignment and also quantifies the sum of downlink power required to support the data bursts at the prescribed bit rates. Finally, the paper also presents numerical quantification of the required CPU time to solve the bit rate assignment problem using the conventional method and the new developed scheme. |
