Summary: | The basic principle of constructing a generator of sub-microsecond pulses based on IGBT with magnetic compression networks is described. Pulse compression circuit constructing by saturable magnetic core is considered. Energy from grid flow over the step-up pulse transformer enabled by the IGBT, and charge the high-voltage capacitor. Two-stage magnetic compression networks operate before the charge switched on the load. The experiment results of 1.2 kV voltage pulse are presented with a rise time of 220 ns, a duration of 1.0 us and a repetition rate of 5 kHz under 7.5 ohm load. |
