Summary: | This paper presents a Linear-Non-Linear AVP Control with larger inductance for VRM applications. As the current ripple will cause conduction and switch related losses, especially when the input voltage gets higher, a larger inductance could reduce the current ripple to improve the efficiency, meanwhile the Linear-Non-Linear Control could avoid the duty saturation caused by large inductance, so as to get a good transient response. A 12 V-1.6 V/20 A prototype demonstrates that the Linear-Non-Linear AVP control with larger inductance could have a better efficiency than the common AVP control with critical inductance without compromising the transient response. |
