Summary: | This paper presents the design of a robust controller for a variable speed induction motor drive. In the new scheme, the motor speed is controlled by regulating the motor slip using a sliding mode controller. The speed control system is implemented using two processors: a 32-bit transputer and a 16-bit microcontroller, where the main tasks of the speed control system are distributed between these two processors. The validity of the developed system is assessed by both simulation and experimental studies, under different operating conditions. |
