Summary: | This paper presents a five-degrees-of-freedom (DOF) magnetic levitation motor system. The rotor of the system is rotated by a high speed induction motor. In order to improve the integration level, reduce the volume and power loss of the system, one hybrid axial-radial magnetic bearing and one hybrid radial magnetic bearing are applied to suspend the rotor. These two kinds of hybrid magnetic bearings are similar in structures so that the work amount of parameters and mechanical parts design can be reduced. The structures and working principles of these two hybrid magnetic bearings are presented in this paper. The finite element simulations of electromagnetic fields are performed by ANSYS. The experimental prototype is designed and stable suspension of the rotor in 20000 rpm is realized. According to the advantages of this kind of magnetic bearing system, it can be used in those fields having high demands on volume and power consumption such as aeronautics, astronautics and energy storage systems etc. |
