Description
Summary:To improve performance of public traffic network, the hierarchy method of choosing optimum lines (HMCOL) is proposed. By HMCOL, the lines of public traffic network are classified by three layers: backbone lines, limb lines, and branch lines, then the traffic lines of different layers are chosen by those specified roles on network and are integrated into hierarchy network, thus making whole traffic network cost-effective and advisable. So, the shortcoming of neglecting branch lines assignment of conventional method is overcome. The HMCOL principles and basic procedure for traffic network design are introduced. Especially, the construction of hierarchy model for choosing lines, and the traffic network adjusting method with heuristic idea are described. A classic example is adopted to validate HMCOL. It can be seen from experimental analysis that compared with the other research results, the public traffic network designed by HMCOL owns higher network coverage rate, and lower lines overlapping rate, and meets other function demand of the public traffic design.
