description | Our task was to design a knowledge discovery tool for field force engineers. We wanted to bring the power of Web 2.0 interfaces to allow engineers to better interact with their data repository, the Intranet, and between themselves in general. Web 2.0 is both attractive on performance related issues (better search, classification, etc...) and has proven to be successful and therefore familiar. We designed our system based on some constraints which are inherent to field force working operations. The interaction has to be fast, to the point, and absolutely minimise the amount of typing. Engineers do write reports for every job they complete and our goal was to facilitate search based on these reports. Our system can turn reports into search engine queries, and suggest tags so that engineers can also save those reports together with meta data. |
