Description
Summary:We report the effect of irradiation electric field on nonlinear optical materials. Firstly the calculation model of the irradiation electric field of high energy charged particles with typical radiation parameters is presented. Then based on the anionic group theory and finite field method, we research the irradiation effect of beta ray on the BBO (beta - Ba 2 B 2 O 4 ) crystals by resort to the Gaussian'03 quantum-chemical software. The results show that the low energy irradiation of 0~300 Mev ray energy has no obvious effect on NLO properties of BBO crystals, and in the 300 Mev~420 Mev energy band, there are some fluctuation of the first order hyperpolarizability. When the energy is higher than 420 Mev, all the three components of the hyperpolarizability changed violently which shows the permanent damage of BBO crystals.
