Summary:In this article we present an image processing based approach for the automatic identification of moving objects (primarily people) within monochrome video images. Object motion is analysed by algorithms which are used to distinguish suspicious movement from non-suspicious movement. A human operator can be alerted on recognition of a suspicious event occurrence. The methods used are described along with the results obtained.
