Summary: | This paper describes the results of a study using electromagnetic simulation for a GPS antenna mounted on the front windshield along with other parts of the vehicle. Simulations were performed using a windshield model with several parts of the vehicle including ldquoArdquo pillars, roof, body panels and vehicle chassis individually. The simulation results suggest that the some parts around the windshield may affect the far-field radiation pattern of antenna; especially the front of dash and vehicle chassis which increase null points, while the hood and rear body have less of an effect on the radiation pattern in this case. The simulation results have also been compared with actual measurement results. |
