Description
Summary:The central solenoid (CS) is identified as a critical component of GLOBUS-M spherical tokamak. The CS coil is located between the 108 mm diameter toroidal field coil inner legs bundle and the 218 mm diameter bore of the vacuum vessel. A space restriction requires a high accuracy of the CS conductor winding. Strong magnetic cyclic loads acting on the solenoid require high strength continuous conductor of 66 meters total length for the solenoid manufacturing. The CuAg alloy of HKO1 type manufactured by OUTOKUMPU OY in Pori, Finland is considered as a candidate material for the solenoid winding. The CS structural analysis has been performed. Mechanical cyclic tests of the material up to 6/spl times/10/sup 5/ cycles in different regimes of loading have been done.
