Description
Summary:A crucial problem the service providers has to take into account is whether they can offer users differentiated service and guarantee the quality of service (QoS). Currently most criteria are used to measure QoS of network based on the hardware resources, rather than caring the degree of user satisfaction-quality of experience (QoE). For instance, busy hour throughput per cell of enhanced data rates for GSM evolution (EDGE) network is frequently applied as an evaluation indicator. However, when cell throughput gradually increases, QoE of each user will dramatically deteriorate. Under such scenario, QoS of the network is at odd with QoE of users. This paper proposes an original and measurable indicator of QoE in EDGE networks-busy hour throughput per user, which can be employed to direct practical network design and optimization.
