Summary: | To develop a simulation and control mechanism for mechanical ventilator of respiratory therapy is aimed as the continuous mandatory ventilation mode is also objected for study. Based on the optimal chemical-mechanical respiratory control model, sinusoidal waveform which is commonly utilized in clinical applications of volume-targeted approach is modeled and optimized. To meet the needs for ventilation by considering both the chemical and mechanical cost, the effort of breathing for simulated patient under mechanical ventilation is minimized through the optimization tool. The experiments are performed and the resultant waveforms are examine under various simulations of muscular exercise, CO 2 inhalation, and resistive and elastic loading for simulate patient. The system is found to perform properly as the resultant ventilatory responses and optimized waveforms are examined through an implemented MATLAB ® Graphic User Interface. |
