PMD-induced nonlinear penalty reduction in coherent polarization-multiplexed QPSK transmission

The PMD-induced reduction of the nonlinear transmission penalty is investigated for 40G CP-QPSK dispersion-managed systems. We show a significant dependence on the PMD coefficient for pure CP-QPSK transmission, but a strongly reduced impact in mixed scenarios with OOK/DPSK.
