Summary: | The principle of this paper is to describe grounding monitoring system and installation for Traction Power Sub-Station (TPSS) and power distribution boards in both TPSS and the Light Rapid Transit (LRT). The grounding system will be analyzed and installed such that it will prevent the build-up of hazardous potential differences during short-circuit conditions, ensure non-current carrying exposed metalwork associated with related equipment does not attain a dangerous potential during fault condition, ensure an equipotential grounding system will be achieved by bonding all the various earth resistances of earth arrays for various services within the buildings, ensure the reliability of electrical services, ensure equipment to function correctly and finally to protect people and livestock within the specified installation. The software tool package of Cymgrid by Cyme international T&D Inc. will be used in the ac substation grounding grid analysis made and safety verification of the grounding system and its constituent components. |
