Summary: | This paper presents the results of assessing tissue's blood perfusion and volume in-vitro through tissue oxygen saturation (StO 2 ) measurement using hyperspectral imaging (HSI) and to compare that with the skin temperature results by thermal imaging (TI) technique. It is shown that the StO 2 gives a more robust assessment of the blood perfusion/volume in the tissue than that of the skin temperature measurement, which is found strongly dependent on the ambient conditions as well as the perspiration artefacts. This paper highlights the pros and cons for using HSI and TI for blood perfusion/volume assessment in the real environment. |
