Description
Summary:Domestic waste is easily decomposed by microbes to produce odor detrimental to environmental quality. The production of biofertilizer is one of low environment pollution method for domestic waste treatment. The effect of biofertilizer from domestic waste on Chinese traditional vegetable, Amaranthus, was investigated. The biofertilizer from domestic waste can improve output with 52.4%, stem length with 50% and chlorophyll content with 20% of Amaranthus. The biofertilizer treatment can increase nitrogen, phosphorous and potassium accumulation of Amaranthus. But only a little of biofertilizer treatment (100 kg/hm 2 ) would decrease the nutritional elements accumulation. The biofertilizer at 1000 kg/hm 2 level has the similar effects for absorption of nutritional elements of N, P and K with chemical fertilizer. The biofertilizer, especially at 1000 kg/hm 2 level, can improve the organic matter index of soil.
