Summary: | In the renewable energy generation, maximum power point tracking (MPPT) is always expected. However, the scale of integration of renewable energy sources into the existing electric power networks is not infinitive mainly due to the fluctuation of power flow from these sources. In order to ensure power quality in particular AC voltage quality in case of line impedance being significantly resistive and the level of power injection being notably high, energy storages can be applied. However, this is not a cost-effective solution. In this paper, super capacitor energy storages are proposed to be applied as the peak power unit to gain the required time allowing demand side management (e.g. power matching via ICT infrastructure) properly working. As a result, the impact of power fluctuation from renewable energy sources can be mitigated. |
