description This paper describes an approach to the implementation of a multivariable transmitter for environments based on Industrial Ethernet, performing direct and virtual multivariable measurements over a large variety of plant variables. The purposed instrument is designed to deal with diverse type of sensors, to perform self calibration/configuration, to develop virtual measurements and to communicate as client or server in Industrial Ethernet network. Its versatility allows the implementation of innovative complex algorithms for measurement, supervision and control with reliability, agility and effective costs over wide range of potential industrial applications.
