Description
Summary:Intravenous injection is a significant factor to increase the workload of medical staff when the vein injection is performed. To ease the workload, a variety of support systems have been developed. However, most of them are large-scaled and expensive. In order to construct a low-cost injection support system, a new method to extract veins from USB camera image was proposed. Our scheme consists of preprocessing of vein images, teaching data creation and vein extraction using the Mahalanobis distance. We have applied this approach to 60 images to extract veins and showed its useful function.
