Description
Summary:In this paper, a practical and simple approach for the damping of enclosure resonances using antenna elements is described. The efficiency of the proposed damping strategy is investigated using measurements and simulations of the shielding effectiveness of a rectangular enclosure. Dipole and loop antennas having lumped and distributed resistive loading are used to damp the lowest resonant mode of the enclosure. The measured and simulated shielding effectiveness values of an enclosure damped using the antenna elements indicate that the approach is robust and effective for the practical suppression of undesirable resonances.
