Summary: | In wireless sensor networks, it has been shown that collecting data using a mobile sink can drastically reduce energy consumption at the cost of increasing delivery delay of data. In order to decrease the delay, we propose an approach of sink mobility, in which the sink moves along a ring-like route instead of a reciprocal one. Thus, a part of data packets can be transferred more quickly. Performance evaluation shows that our proposed approach outperforms the approach of using a reciprocal route in terms of the average end-to-end delay, throughput, and the delivery success rate. |
