Description
Summary:Fingerprint based techniques are the most well developed biometric recognition methods. This paper presents the architecture and some implementation details for a distributed fingerprint based recognition system. Two different topologies for interconnecting the servers of the proposed system are presented: a peer-to-peer based architecture and MOM based one. The main objectives are to present these two distributed architectures and their communication protocols, together with comparative test results. The main downfall of the peer-to-peer based topology is its low scalability due to the great number of inter-server connections. The MOM based topology inherits the disadvantages of centralized systems.
