description Consumer problems cannot be solved with old technologies. Most scalable, price-performance-enhancing solutions need advanced and emerging technologies that are creatively blended with the existing and rapidly evolving infrastructure. Technology is worth only if it is a significant multiplier of human effort, is able to deliver much better than average quality of manual effort, and addresses the chief concerns in the situation that surrounds us. In this paper we address the problem of adult illiteracy in India and elsewhere and showcase how technology has played a key role to minimize this mammoth social problem and proved as a potential instrument for social transformation.
