S- and P-polarization dependence of localized surface plasmon enhanced photoelectron emission from fractal gold/ITO nanostructures

We report on three-photon photoelectron emission (3-PPE) from gold/ITO nanostructures enhanced by localized surface plasmon "hot spots" and imaged by IR-PEEM. Individual hot spots respond most favorably to polarized light within ±45° of S-polarization. Conversely, the average photoemission...

Description
Summary:We report on three-photon photoelectron emission (3-PPE) from gold/ITO nanostructures enhanced by localized surface plasmon "hot spots" and imaged by IR-PEEM. Individual hot spots respond most favorably to polarized light within ±45° of S-polarization. Conversely, the average photoemission response was strongest for P-polarized light because of the combination of favorable transmission coefficients, the third-order probability of 3-PPE, and the wide angle response of the hot spots.
