Summary:Near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRs) is a novel measuring technology in neuroscience. It can be used to non-invasively measure the relative concentrations of oxy-hemoglobin (HbO 2 ) and deoxy-hemoglobin (HbR) which can reflect the information related to cerebral blood volume and cerebral oxygen saturation. Therefore, it has the potential for noninvasive monitoring of cerebra ischemia. However, it still lacks reliable physiological information in cerebra ischemia, and its system volume is usually bulky. In this study, a portable, wireless multi-channel near-infrared spectroscopy for monitoring middle cerebral artery occlusion is proposed. We attempt to miniaturize NIRs system, and find meaningful information related to cerebra ischemia from the relative concentrations of HbO 2 and HbR measured by using the proposed NIRs. We also hope the proposed NIRs system can provide a system prototype for monitoring middle cerebral artery occlusion in the future.
